Value: 50 Points

To be included: A Power Point Presentation (to be e-mailed to me as an attachment and stored as a link on your website) that will be developed on a topic of your choosing. The presentation will contain:

• 5 slides of information (20 points @ 4 points a piece)

• A title slide (5 points)

• Consistent transitions and builds (6 points)

• Appropriate Design Template (Nothing that renders the presentation unreadable) (4 points)

• At least 5 images inserted into the presentation (5 points)

• One auto shape (3 points)

• Custom background inserted through slide master (5 points)

• -3 points per spelling error

Upload the PowerPoint file to your students directory and provide a link to it off of your accounting 168 page (2 points)

Objective: To introduce you to how to construct a website on a specific topic and how to utilize Frontpage, specifically, in creating that website.  The purpose of this assignment is also to set you up with a structure on which to build future classes. You must pick a topic to do a site on; it may be on anything.

Grade: 60 Points

• 4 Pages (not including the links pages) with links in between pages. Two links must be images and not text (Navigation bars do not count for images).
  24 Points (4 Pages @ 6 Points a piece)
• 6 Images (6 Points)
• A Navigation Bar (5 Points)
• At least one Interactive button (4 points)
• A shared border (3 points)
• Easy Navigation (8 points (-2 points for each page that has Navigation issues))
• Links Page with 10 Hyperlinks to External Sites that interest you.  (5 Points)
• A Page Banner (2 points)
• At least one element from web components (of your choosing) (3 points)

Objective: Practical experience with proper use of social networking technologies.

Assignment: Over the next 5 weeks of this class, you’ll be maintaining a blog on blogger.com, a popular website used for maintaining blogs. The purpose of this will be to gain practical experience with appropriate disclosure of information online. You must have a minimum of 20 posts of content with no more than two posts per day (additional posts will not be counted). Each post will be with 2 points a piece. If any personal information is disclosed (address, birthdate, course schedule, etc.) 5 points will be deducted from your score. I’ll be checking the blogs periodically throughout the class. For each meaningful comment on your blog, you will be awarded 1 bonus point up to 5 bonus points.

Once your blogger.com account is setup (or if you have another blog setup on another site) e-mail me the link to your blog after you’ve created it.

Purpose:  This assignment has one objective; to firm up much of what we’ve been talking about in class of late.

Grade:  20 Points

Objective:  The goal of this assignment is to create a page to describe a little bit about yourself.  The following components should be included:

• A theme (2 points).

• A three paragraph essay giving a brief biography of yourself (5 points).

• An image (3 points).

• An image page banner (3 points).

• A hyperlink on the image (either image, text, or interactive button) that takes you to your URL (e.g. http://students.cob.ilstu.edu/ulid) (2 points).

• One interactive button centered underneath the image with the text ‘Click here to go home’ and linking to your homepage (http://students.cob.ilstu.edu/ulid). (5 points)

The file should be saved in your directory and should be named ‘aboutme.htm’.  The result will be that I will be able to access the site by going to the following URL: http://students.cob.ilstu.edu/ulid/aboutme.htm where ulid is your own ULID.

Objective: To gain an understanding of structuring a PowerPoint presentation

Grade: 35 points

Create a presentation based on one of the following speeches. Imagine that you’re the PowerPoint person for any of the four speakers and have been tasked to create a PowerPoint presentation for their speeches. You’ve been given the text (or the audio in the final two cases) and you are to create a PowerPoint presentation that matches the speech and would be used if the presenter were to utilize PowerPoint.

The PowerPoint that you create will be e-mailed to me and will be be provided as a link on your website.

Criteria:

• Organization of the slides (14 points)

• including a slide build and slide transition at some point in the presentation (7 points)

• Readability (7 points)

• Slide Design (7 points)
