So, I have an opportunity to embrace the world of academia.

My friend, Jon, and I are applying for a grant from the MacArthur foundation for a digital learning initiative. Pray that we get it.

It was fun though writing the main proposal last night. I had a similar feeling to Tom Cruise’s character Jerry McGuire in the opening scene of Jerry McGuire when he wrote his paper. It was great to think about an idea and just have it sing and feel like I really had a finger on who God created me to be.

I really hope we get it; it would be great fun to do and would enable a couple of really great things to happen.

In a nutshell, we’ll be doing a formal study on the efectivness of facebook as a classroom management solution. There’s alot of goals I have with this study and alot of postive thigns I want to see happen. It’s a stretch thinking about it. The last formal study I took part in was my thesis a number of years ago and I really enjoyed that and it was a postive experience.

I was almost not going to attempt writing it, but IV had their fall conference last weekend that I helped get setup and York Moore spoke on Friday night on the importance of Christians in Academia and the salt and light we can be in that context. I really was challenged to just do it; to write the grant because that was what God was calling me to do at this particular moment.

So, we’ll see how it goes.
