Getting ready for Travel

0

It’s going to be a busy next few days.

Tomorrow, my friend Randy and I had out Cincinatti, OH to attend a music festival called Autobahn - 13 bands in about 8 hours of music.  The rub is that we have to head back the same night.  Because my df needs to be @ the airport early.

Lest you think us stupid, it’s the only time we’re going to get to see a certain band both of us like (and as far as I know, we have clearance from the wives… :) ).  It’ll be fun and it’s a relatively cheap show (15 bucks…).

Once we get back, Sunday will be full of normal Sunday activities and then I head out Monday a.m. to Dallas to attend Educause, which I will probably blog (yeah…I’m geeky like that…).  I attended last year and it was a phenomenal conference experience.  There were a ton of good ideas to be had and to develop back at home and many good things came out of it.  We’ll see how it goes this time around.

Osama Dead?

2

It was reported this evening by several sources as Osama Bin Laden being killed not by a missle, not by gunfire, not by a bomb but by an organism millions of times smaller than the very large man: a virus.

In my mind, this really highlights the unconvential war we are fighting.  There are no people or group or nation specifically that is the targets.  There is no nation we can bring to it’s knees to force surrender.  We are fighting ideals.  You can’t change a man’s heart by force and this event really will not be good for us.  Think about it, a leader that most American’s believe that if captured the war on terror would be over.  How horrible it would be to have a man die and no body able to be recovered.  There simply will be no closure.

I can imagine that in the middle east Osama might go to icon status.  Untouchable by the U.S. he will turn into a ghost that will haunt us for generations to come.

Jellybean the clown
Jellybean the clown (isn’t she cute?)

Click on the picture to catch some shots from our Church’s Fall Picnic/Festival.  Melissa took on the role as JellyBean the clown.  I totally didn’t recognize her the first time I saw her!

Spammers Suck

0

I’ve made a slight switch; like other blogs I’ve been reading lately, I’ve decided to go to an all moderated blog.  It seems the past week or so, spammers have been targeting this wonderful little corner of the Universe.  So, until that cools down a bit, all comments are going to be moderated; all, except for spam, will be approved.

Surgery Post-OP

1

Well, it’s over.  It really wasn’t that bad, for what it was at least.  Drugs have definately gotten better since last time I had surgery; I guess technology advances doesn’t it??  I woke up this time around and felt alot better than I did last time.

Everyone’s been great; MJ really is a wonderful wife, we’ve had people calling to see how we were doing and some good friends brought Chilli’s last night for us (thanks!!) and the burger tasted so freaking good.

My Surgeon does microsurgery and that was awesome too; three really small incsions that broke no muscle and my recovery time is really quick.  I actually felt like walking just minutes after I woke up…it was great.

So yesterday, today and tomrrow will probably be spent lying around and watching movies…ahh this is great….
